New Sake Cup Expressed through Lacquer and Maki-e: "Sakasa-tsuki" Series

Introducing a new series of sake cups that combine lacquer and maki-e techniques, featuring the motif of a slender crescent moon known as "Senshuku." This collection draws inspiration from the elegant Japanese tradition of viewing the moon in reverse.

In the past, those who enjoyed moonlit sake-drinking gatherings found more delight in admiring the moon reflected in their sake cups than in gazing at the night sky. With this concept of "the moon reflected in the sake cup," we have created a brand new collection called "Sakasa-tsuki."

The series consists of six unique designs (Yoi, Juugo, Kasa, Ariake, Misoka, and Sen), each capturing different lunar images using lacquer and maki-e techniques. The lustrous black and vermilion lacquer is adorned with delicate gold maki-e, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication.

The unconventional cylindrical shape of these cups sets them apart. Among the six designs, this specific cup, inspired by the slender crescent moon, features the motif of "Senshuku."
