Product description
A New Sake Cup Expressed through Lacquer and Maki-e: "Sakasa-tsuki" Series
Drawing inspiration from the full moon of the "Jugoya" or the fifteenth night that floats in the night sky, we present a sake cup that captures the beauty of the moonlit night. Rooted in the stylish Japanese tradition of the "reversed moon," where connoisseurs of elegance found more joy in observing the moon's reflection in their sake cups than in gazing up at the moonlit sky. This concept led to the creation of our innovative series, the "Sakasa-tsuki."
The series features six distinct designs (Yoi, Juugo, Kasa, Ariake, Misoka, and Sen), each translating various lunar impressions using the artistry of lacquer and maki-e. The lustrous black and vermilion lacquer harmoniously blends with delicate gold maki-e, enhancing its allure.
The captivating cylindrical form of these cups adds a unique appeal. Among the six designs, this particular cup is inspired by the radiance of the full moon on the "Jugoya." The darkness of the night is depicted through black lacquer, while the brilliance of the full moon's light is brought to life using intricate gold maki-e. The simple yet luxurious combination of black and gold is a highlight of this cup's charm.
The innovative cylindrical design is an exceptional feature. Crafted from wood, these cups offer a light and comfortable feel, making them a pleasure to hold. Moreover, their functional advantages include heat insulation, making them easy to handle even when containing hot sake, and maintaining the temperature for an extended period.
Perfect as a birthday gift for sake enthusiasts, or for occasions such as Father's Day, Mother's Day, and Respect for the Aged Day. Inspired by the preferences of tea lovers in China, these cups are slightly larger in size, making them an excellent choice for souvenirs or gifts for international recipients.
