Designated as a traditional handicraft by the national government and by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Edo faceting is said to have originated in 1834, when Kyubei Kagaya, a biidoro shop in Odenmacho, Edo, engraved on the surface of glass. The cuts are fine and the finish is clear and gorgeous. The patterns are standard among Japanese patterns. This is a gem of delicate craftsmanship that has been passed down from generation to generation.
