Designated as a traditional handicraft by the national government and by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Edo faceting is said to have originated in 1834, when Kyubei Kagaya, a biidoro shop in Odenmacho, Edo, engraved on the surface of glass. The cuts are fine and the finish is clear and gorgeous. The patterns are standard among Japanese patterns.
