[About Kurume Kasuri]
Kurume Kasuri is a traditional pre-dyed woven fabric that embodies the essence of Japanese craftsmanship. Operated by a network of 20 weaving machines connected to a single motor, this retro Showa-era belt-driven power loom was established in 1948 during the 23rd year of the Showa period. It showcases a soft and delicate texture akin to handwoven textiles, making it a perfect choice for individuals seeking to create meticulously crafted pieces that honor Japan's rich weaving heritage.

[Weaving Characteristics]
Known as "Tategasuri" or "Itagasuri," this weaving technique employs only the warp threads (vertical threads) to create intricate patterns. The density of weaving is subtly adjusted to achieve a softer texture compared to traditional vertical and horizontal Kasuri weaves. Ingenious warp arrangement and knotting techniques are employed to create bold, large-scale arrow motifs.

[Arrow Motif]
The arrow motif symbolizes the feathers of an arrow. Arrows, once shot, move straight ahead and do not return, which has led to the custom of gifting arrow-patterned kimono during weddings. Additionally, the motif is associated with success, as hitting the target symbolizes achievement. Arrows also represent the strong and resilient growth of a warrior (male) and are seen as symbols of protection and charms. They are known for their auspicious meaning and are often used as talismans, including for warding off evil spirits.
