[About Kurume Kasuri]
Kurume Kasuri Weaving, established in the 23rd year of the Showa era, operates a retro belt-driven power loom system comprising 20 interconnected looms. It is a traditional pre-dyed woven textile that represents Japan. Known for its soft texture akin to hand weaving, it involves numerous manual processes and takes 2 to 4 months to complete over 30 steps. This makes it an ideal choice for individuals who want to create meticulously crafted pieces that embody the essence of Japanese tradition.
[Weaving Characteristics]
"Standing Kasuri" (Tatekasuri), which expresses patterns solely through warp threads, is also referred to as "Itagasuri" (Itagasuri). By adjusting the density of the warp threads (tateito) and weft threads (yokoito), a unique softness is achieved.
[Arare Pattern]
The term "Arare" refers to fine-spaced patterns. The unpredictability of the pattern arrangement adds an element of fascination. These versatile patterns can be used for clothing and various goods. Striped Arare patterns are particularly popular.
