[Kurume Kasuri Fabric]
Kurume Kasuri is a traditional pre-dyed woven fabric produced by Kurume Kasuri Orimono, founded in 1948. It stands as a representative of Japan's heritage craft. This fabric showcases a soft and supple texture akin to hand weaving. Its production involves numerous manual processes, taking 2 to 4 months with over 30 intricate steps. The finished cloth undergoes a process of natural shrinking through hot water and air drying, resulting in approximately 10% reduction in size. Perfect for those seeking a unique piece rooted in Japanese tradition.

[Weaving Characteristics]
"Bunjin Gasuri" or "Shosei Kasuri" is a distinct weaving technique also known as "Shosei Kasuri." It gained recognition due to its adoption by various literary figures, including Osamu Dazai. Unlike many other Kurume Kasuri patterns which employ a technique called "kukuri" for patterning, Bunjin Gasuri uses the special technique of "orinuki" to create its motifs. While "kukuri" has limitations in creating intricate patterns, "orinuki" involves weaving patterns into the fabric by meticulously untying groups of warp threads. With a slow yet firm weaving process, followed by natural indigo dyeing and reweaving using the untied weft threads, the Bunjin Gasuri is created through a labor-intensive process. "Tatebunjin" refers to a variant where the weft threads are woven in a striped pattern using "bunjin" yarn in the warp.
