This kyusu is made of Bankoyaki, a traditional pottery from Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture, Japan. It has long been used as an ideal tool for brewing Japanese tea. Bankoyaki kyusu is made of a ceramic clay called "shidei," which retains heat better than porcelain or metal.
